Kolkata: With the Union Budget 2025 already unveiled on February 1, all eyes are now on Bengal’s upcoming state budget. In a significant development, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's government is expected to announce the recruitment of 50,000 individuals across various sectors to address rising unemployment.

The state government has been actively working to generate employment, including setting up a new IT hub that has already provided some job opportunities. Now, the upcoming budget is likely to introduce large-scale recruitment across multiple government departments.

Keeping financial feasibility in mind, the government plans to increase employment through ongoing projects like ICDS and Anganwadi. The recruitment drive will include positions such as assistants and supervisors, offering financial stability, particularly to women. Additionally, the healthcare sector is expected to see new hires, including pharmacists, medical officers, nursing sisters, and health assistants.

Furthermore, after a long hiring freeze in the state’s security forces, new recruitments are expected for civic volunteers, village police, and home guards, providing employment to many young individuals.

The education sector has also faced prolonged hiring delays due to ongoing legal disputes, leaving government schools with a teacher shortage. To address this, the state may introduce contractual teaching positions, ensuring both job opportunities for educated youth and much-needed staffing in schools.

With the official budget announcement approaching, job seekers across Bengal await confirmation of these recruitment plans, which could significantly impact employment and economic stability in the state.
