It is known that there was a saint named St. Valentine or Valentinus. Although this day is actually celebrated as a day of joy, the story behind this day is actually quite painful. 

A legend says that St. Valentine refused to convert to paganism and was executed by the Roman Emperor Claudius II. He was considered a symbol of love. Therefore, this special day is celebrated all over the world in remembrance of him. 

St. Valentine strengthened the connection of love between people. A poem by medieval writer Geoffrey Chaucer has a masterful description of St. Valentine's love. In many countries of the world, this day is also celebrated as a religious day.
