BY A STAFF REPORTER: The opening batter, Prithvi Shaw scored 379 runs off 383 balls, making the second-highest Ranji Trophy score of all time. With this, Shaw is now second on the list of the highest First-class cricket score.
Bhausaheb Nimbalkar remains unbeaten with 443 runs for Maharashtra against Kathiawar, the highest in Ranji Trophy and First-class Cricket. Prithvi Shaw has now registered second on both lists.
Furthermore, Prithvi Shaw broke Sanjay Manjrekar’s previously-held record for the highest score by a Mumbai batsman. The former Indian batsman turned commentator, Manjrekar, had scored 377 runs against Hyderabad.
Prithvi is also the ninth batsman to hit a 350-plus in Ranji Trophy innings, surpassing Swapnil Gugale (351*), Cheteshwar Pujara (352), VVS Laxman(353), Samit Gohel (359*), MV Sridhar (366) and Sanjay Manjrekar(377).
