Patrick Bamford- Leeds strike king
Patrick Bamford is an English footballer who plays for recently relegated side Leeds United. He made his Premier League Leeds debut in a 4-3 away defeat at Anfield against Liverpool where he scored a goal on 12 September 2020. He again scored next week in a 4-3 home victory against Fulham. He netted for the 3rd consecutive match-this time against arch rivals Sheffield United away at Bramall Lane. He scored his first Leeds Premier League hattrick in a 3-0 away win against Aston Villa at Villa Park. He then netted in a 4-1 away loss against Crystal Palace on 7th November, where he had a goal controversially disallowed. Next Month he opened the scoring in a 3-1 away loss against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. He netted again 10 days later in a 5-2 emphatic home win against Newcastle. On 27 December , he scored in a 1-0 win against Burnley. Overall he scored 17 goals as Leeds finished in highly 9th position in their first season back in top flight. Buoyed by a successful first season campaign, he signed a new 5 years deal and scored his first goal in a 1-1 draw against Burnley at Turf Moor. He suffered an ankle injury in a 1-1 away draw against Newcastle at St. James Park. This injury caused him to be out of football for 2 months. On his return he scored a dramatic equaliser in a 2-2 draw against Brentford at home. However during celebration he injured himself. He returned again in a 2-1 win against Norwich at home on 13 March. However his next game against Wolves at Molineux he was injured and had to be substituted. In a nutshell this season was hampered by injuries. Next season he also had a subpar campaign as Leeds were relegated after 3 seaons in top flight.With his speedy, mazy runs and eye for goal, it remains to be seen whether he can help Leeds to gain instant promotion back to the Premier League.
