Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh: Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse on Sunday emphasised the growing momentum of the nationwide ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ campaign, encouraging youth participation in cycling for better health and environmental awareness.

Speaking at an event held at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi, Khadse expressed satisfaction over the enthusiastic response from young participants. “Even here in Kashi, we had this event in BHU. You can see that a large number of youth participated in this,” she said.

The initiative, which takes place every Sunday across various parts of the country, aims to promote cycling as a simple and effective way to stay fit while also contributing to environmental sustainability. “You can maintain your fitness through cycling and also maintain the environment,” Khadse noted.

She further underlined the broader social objective behind the movement—creating awareness among youth about the harmful effects of drug abuse. “At least the thinking process of youth has begun—why they have to be free of drugs and what are its disadvantages. This is harming the country and them too,” she added.

Khadse expressed confidence in the long-term impact of the initiative, saying, “I am confident that we will be able to see the impact in 5–10 years.”
