By Avideep Nandi Majumdar: Liverpool kept up the pressure on Arsenal and Manchester City as they defeated Sheffield United 3-1 at Anfield on Thursday. Their has been intense pressure on Liverpool, with title challengers Arsenal, Manchester City winning their respective matches. So the significance of this match was huge. They, however started the match on the back foot, as McAtee almost gave Sheffield United a shock lead at Anfield, though his shot was saved by second choice Liverpool goalkeeper Kelleher. In the 17th minute, a bowler from Sheffield United goalkeeper gifted Liverpool the lead as Grbic shot his clearance into Darwin Nunez and the ball rolled into the net.

In the second half, Sheffield United fortunately equalised as Liverpool young sensation Connor Bradley put the ball into his own net. McAtee was the heart of the move as his cross in the back post was headed by Hamer which struck Bradley and went inside the net. Strung by the equaliser, Liverpool scored again in the 77th minute as Argentine star Mac Allister powered one into the top corner from the edge of the box. Dutchman Cody Gakpo secured the win by heading the ball into the Sheffield United net. Liverpool, as a result of the win are now sitting at the summit with 70 points and 2 points clear of nearest rivals Manchester City.
