New Delhi — Indian boxing registered a proud moment on Sunday as Jaismine Lamboria clinched the featherweight gold at the World Boxing Championships, defeating Paris Olympics silver medallist Julia Szeremeta of Poland in a hard-fought final. Her triumph marks a milestone in Indian boxing, with Lamboria becoming world champion in one of the sport’s most competitive divisions.

Lamboria showcased tactical brilliance and composure in the ring, countering Szeremeta’s aggressive style with sharp footwork and clean punches. Judges awarded the bout unanimously in her favour, sealing her place among India’s elite boxing champions.

“It’s a dream come true. Beating an Olympic medallist and winning the world title is not just my achievement but also a proud moment for the country,” Lamboria said after the win.

Adding to India’s medal tally, Nupur claimed silver in her category after a closely contested final, while Pooja earned bronze, rounding off a strong overall performance for the Indian contingent.
