New Delhi – With the Hockey India League (HIL) returning after a seven-year hiatus, Indian hockey captain Manpreet Singh expressed his excitement about the league's potential to elevate Indian hockey. Speaking exclusively about his goals for HIL, Manpreet shared that he sees the league as a significant opportunity to refine his own skills while also contributing to the growth of younger players on the team.

“HIL for me is a great platform to better myself and my game. Playing alongside top-tier players provides an invaluable experience that no other training can match,” Manpreet stated. This league, he believes, brings together talents from across the world, creating an atmosphere where younger players can interact with, observe, and learn from veterans who have achieved success on the global stage. “The last time we had this opportunity to play with our idols and role models was seven years back. So, the youngsters have a great chance to sharpen their skills and expand their understanding of the game,” he added.

Manpreet, who has long been regarded as a central figure in Indian hockey, spoke about his desire to mentor younger teammates by sharing insights on handling pressure and avoiding on-field mistakes. “It’s crucial that they learn not just technical skills but also strategies to prevent errors,” he remarked. Recognizing the league as a pathway for talent development, Manpreet emphasized the importance of instilling confidence and resilience in rising players. “I want to focus on motivating them and will support them in every way possible,” he affirmed.

As HIL draws near, Manpreet’s vision for the league extends beyond individual achievement. He envisions a collective environment of shared growth, where seasoned players guide younger talents to strengthen Indian hockey’s global standing.
