Emiliano Martinez has emerged as one of the world cup heroes as his country claimed their third world cup win to ensure Lionel Messi ended his Argentina carrier with a world cup trophy. He was one of the most instrumental players of the squad, as his side came back from a shock opening  day  defeat against Saudi Arabia. They romped back to win their next 2 matches as Martinez kept clean sheets in the next 2 matches against Mexico and Robert Lewandoskis Poland. He made a name for himself against Netherlands in the penalty shootout as he saved Liverpool star Virgil Van Dijk and Steven Berghuis spotkicks and this enabled his side to seal the deal. He kept his 3red cleansheet of the season against Croatia as the Argentines got revenge from a 3-0 defeat which Croatia inflicted on them back in 2018 wc by defeating them with the same margin. In the finals in the very last minute of extra time he saved at point blank range from Kolo Muani to ensure penalty shootout. He showed his class in the penalty shootout again as he kept out Bayern superstar  Kingsley Comans effort and Aurèlien Tchouamènis effort to ensure Messi end his Argentina carrier with a trophy. Now the footballing world consider him as Argentenian hero and one of the pivotal reasons of them winning the wc.
