By Avideep Nandi Majumdar: Two arch rivals East Bengal and Mohun Bagan played out a 2-2 draw at the Salt Lake Stadium as both marked their return to Indian Super League campaign.
It was the Red and Golds who managed to break the deadlock through Ajay Chetteri who spotted in after excellent work by the Red and Golds. Strung by the early setback, Mohun Bagan applied pressure and leveled the contest through Armando Sadiku in the 16th minute, following some poor defending by the red and Golds. The first half ended 1-1 and in the second half, East Bengal got their second goal in the 55th minute as Cleiton Silva converted a penalty. East Bengal were on the cusp of victory but Mohun Bagans Australian forward Dimitri Petratos scored in the 87th minute. Both sides attempted to go for the winner but the match ultimately ended as a 2-2 draw. Following the stalemate, Mohun Bagan remain 5the, and East Bengal 7th.
