Delhi: As the Indian contingent arrived at the Delhi airport, Coach Kuldeep Vadwan shared his pride and gratitude for his athletes’ achievements.Vadwan highlighted the dedication and hard work of his team, including Rakesh, Sheetal, and Harvinder, who have recently made headlines in the world of archery.
Vadwan reflected on the journey leading up to their success, recalling how Sheetal’s world record-breaking performance and subsequent loss in the individual event did not deter their spirits. "We worked really hard, we have not done any magic," Vadwan remarked, emphasizing the rigorous training and unwavering faith he had in his team. He had confidently predicted their success in the mixed event, and his trust in their abilities was well-placed as they achieved their goal.
He praised Sheetal for her remarkable feat, noting her rise to global fame for her unique archery technique using her leg. Vadwan acknowledged the pressure Sheetal faced during the major event, given her young age and the intensity of the competition. "She was under a lot of pressure, but I guided her to stay smooth, and she won the medal," he added.
Vadwan also highlighted Harvinder’s exceptional performance, including his gold medal win at the Tokyo Olympics during the pandemic. Despite the challenges of training in isolation, Harvinder’s dedication was instrumental in their success. Vadwan expressed gratitude to the Sports Authority of India, the Archery Association of India, and the sponsors for their support.
