Chelsea fc-New season, same problems
By Avideep Nandi Majumdar
It is already a new season, however for Chelsea fans, it seems like an extension of last season. Similar attacking and defending problems are again been seen. In the first match it seemed they had turned a new leaf, as they managed to put in a commanding performance at home against Liverpool. However had they managed to finish chances when they had got, they would have won the game. However the mental determination to fight back after a strong start by Liverpool was shown by Chelsea. In the 2nd match, their lack of clinical finishing when they were dominating came back to haunt them as they lost to West Ham United 3-1. It was now clear Chelsea had not improved their scoring abilities. They dominated the first half and even had a penalty saved. It proved to be costly as West Ham capitalised and scored 2 second half goals to win the game. In the 3rd match against Luton, it seemed Chelsea had brought their scoring boots on as they were very clinical with their finishing and as a result thrashed Luton 3-0 at home. Now many Chelsea fans thought Chelsea is back, however their happiness and optimism faded in the next match as they lost to Nottingham Forest, who had won only a solitary away game last season. This defeat was a bitter pill to swallow as they created chances after chances, had 21 shots on goal. However only 2 were on target. Nottingham Forest had 3 shots on target out of 7 shots on goal. Nicholas Jackson missed a glorious chance in the 83rd minute as he balloned the ball into the stand despite the goal being a handshaking distance away. So lack of clinical finishing cost them in the Nottingham match.a big blow to Chelsea's plan, with as many as 9 players out with injury including new signing Christopher Nkunku. It remains to be seen whether Chelsea can turn their season around, or is it going to be a disappointing season like last season.
