Has Chelsea fc turned a new leaf?
By Avideep Nandi Majumdar
Chelsea have advanced to the semi finals of carbao cup, courtesy a 4-2 penalty shootout victory over Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge. In the premier league, they are struggling, as they have lost
7 games and won only 6 games and are 10th in the table. They have been very inconsistent this season, and it seems last seasons inability to transform possession into goals and lack of a goalscoring player is hurting them, again in this season. However, they have responded to two consecutive defeats by beating Sheffield United at home 2-0. In the carbao cup tie, they seemed to be heading towards defeat, however Mudryk scored in stoppage time, benefitting from former Burnley, Tottenham Hotspur man Kieran Trippers mistake. In the penalty shootout, Kieran turned out to be a villain and Matt Richie had his penalty saved by Chelsea goalkeeper Dorde Petrovic as Chelsea converted all their 4 penalties. Can Chelsea use this match, to turn their season around, or will this match turn out to be one off, remains to be seen in the upcoming matches?
