Mumbai, Maharashtra: Former footballer Bhaichung Bhutia shared his insights on the upcoming Euro Cup 2024, focusing on the performances and prospects of key teams and players. Bhutia expressed mixed feelings about England's performance so far.
"I think England has not played to its potential. I think only the semi-final against Holland was one of their best matches. So they've improved towards the end, especially in the semi-finals, but they have also changed the formation," Bhutia remarked, noting the team's late improvements.
Turning his attention to Spain, Bhutia highlighted their strengths and potential to win the tournament. "Spain is going to be a very tough team. Spain is the favourite in this tournament to win it," he stated confidently.
Bhutia also weighed in on the perennial debate between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. "I think Messi, if he can go on to win Copa America, because he's won tournaments with the country, so that way, I think in terms of trophies, he might have the edge against Cristiano Ronaldo," Bhutia concluded, acknowledging Messi's recent successes on the international stage.
