BY A STAFF REPORTER: West Bengal governor C.V. Ananda Bose promptly ordered a thorough report from the state government regarding Sandeshkali violence and sexual assault cases in the region on 10th February, Saturday.

The residents staged extensive protests against TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh and his associates alleging sexual violence and capturing of their land. Internet services have been shut down in the region with a ban on gatherings of more than 4 people.

The protests escalated significantly as the mob vandalized the properties of Shahjahan Sheikh's close aide Shibu Hazra.

Moreover, Shahjahan Sheikh has been absconding for a month after an ED team was attacked by a large mob of villagers while they were conducting raids at his residence on 5th January.
