BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a significant move, West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose assented to the Howrah Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Bill 2024 on March 19, Tuesday.
Moreover, CV Ananda Bose assented to the bill on the same day it was received. The bill aims to implement stringent rules concerning building clearance regulations that align with the Kolkata Municipal Corporation standards. The Bill was tabled in the West Bengal Assembly by the Minister of Municipal Affairs Department Firhad Hakim on 30th January.
The proposed amendments will make the Kolkata Municipal Building Rules of 2009 applicable to the Howrah Municipal Corporation, with the appropriate modifications. Moreover, Hakim underscored that the amended regulations would require building clearance from the fire department.
