Kolkata: West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose criticized the police handling of the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College. Bose described the situation as shocking and indicative of poor policing, noting that adequate security measures were not in place.

He accused the police of failing to promptly investigate and secure the crime scene, and suggested that there were attempts to destroy evidence. The Governor also condemned the initial portrayal of the incident as a suicide, labeling it a serious mismanagement of the case by the police.
