West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee Speaks On Sandeshkali Violence

While addressing the assembly, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee revealed that the state government has sent the state commission along with the administration to Sandeshkali and took other measures on 15th February, Thursday.

BY A STAFF REPORTER: While addressing the assembly, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee revealed that the state government has sent the state commission along with the administration to Sandeshkali and took other measures on 15th February, Thursday.

Banerjee asserted that she doesn't stand for injustice. She further revealed that 17 people have been arrested so far concerning the violence. Banerjee also informed that a women's team is present there and visiting the people at doorsteps to hear their grievances. The CM also argued that the town is vulnerable to riots as it has a history of riots. She further mentioned that RSS has a base there. Mamata also stated that the authorities handled the situation well during Saraswati puja as there were other plans. 

Protests against TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh and his associates for alleged land-grabbing and systemic sexual exploitations of women turned violent on 9th February. WB Governor C.V Ananda Bose visited Sandeshkali on 12th February and expressed grief on witnessing the grievances of the residents
