Highlighting the urgent need for intervention, Dr. Rudra identified the Himalayas and the Sundarbans as regions under severe threat. “The Himalayas are experiencing accelerated changes due to global warming, while the Sundarbans’ coastal areas are endangered by rising sea levels and erosion. Our seven core programs target these vulnerabilities,” he added.

In a symbolic gesture to underscore public engagement, Dr. Rudra proposed renowned mountaineer Piyali Basak as the brand ambassador for WBPCB’s environmental protection campaign. The proposal aims to leverage Basak’s influence to spread awareness about pollution control and conservation.

Reacting to the honor, Piyali Basak said, “I am delighted to receive this proposal. It is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to preserving our environment.”

The fair also featured exhibitions and workshops, highlighting sustainable practices and innovative approaches to reducing pollution. The WBPCB’s initiatives mark a step forward in fostering community-driven solutions for environmental challenges in West Bengal and beyond.
