Uttar Pradesh: Schools in Lucknow to Remain Closed Till Sixth January

On the orders of District Education Officer, Ram Pravesh, A winter vacation has been announced for the schools of Lucknow district under the District Magistrate's directions.

BY A STAFF REPORTER: The schools in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow will be shut for classes first to eight as adverse cold waves and dense fog conditions are impacting India's central region.

On the orders of District Education Officer, Ram Pravesh, A winter vacation has been announced for the schools of Lucknow district under the District Magistrate's directions. 

The order stated "Regarding the above-mentioned matter, you are aware that at present a cold wave is going on in the entire state including the Lucknow district and it is extremely cold. Following the instructions given by the District Magistrate, you are ordered to ensure leave for all the children studying in school from pre-primary to class 8 till January 6, 2024,"

The District Education Officer urged to keep the class timings for classes 9 to12 between 10:00 am to 03:00 pm only. He also mentioned that strict actions will be taken if the same is not followed.

Yesterday, Dr. Mrityunjay Mohapatra, DG, IMD also issued a weather advisory saying "During 5th-11th January, we are expecting night temperatures to fall which may lead to cold day conditions in some parts of central India.
