Kolkata, West Bengal: TMC leader Kunal Ghosh has voiced strong criticism against the Central Government, accusing it of failing to provide funds for major welfare programs in West Bengal, including the Awas Yojana, the 100 Days Work Scheme (MGNREGA), and rural road projects. Addressing the media, Ghosh emphasized that the Banglar Bari scheme, fully funded by the state and spearheaded by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, aims to provide housing for the needy without relying on central support.
“In the first phase, 11 lakh houses will be constructed under Banglar Bari, a completely state-funded initiative independent of the Central Government’s Awas Yojana,” Ghosh explained. He alleged that opposition parties, particularly the BJP, have tried to disrupt the scheme, claiming they aim to “punish the people of Bengal” due to electoral losses in the state.
Ghosh accused the BJP of attempting to tarnish the Banglar Bari project by creating confusion around its funding and intentions. This marks an ongoing clash between state and central governments over welfare resources in West Bengal, with TMC leaders asserting the need for local initiatives amid funding challenges.
