In a recent statement addressing concerns about crime against women in West Bengal, Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kunal Ghosh asserted that Bengal remains the safest state for women in India. His remarks come in response to a series of incidents that have drawn criticism and concern from various quarters regarding women's safety in the state.
Ghosh emphasized that while some unfortunate events have occurred, the state's police force has acted decisively in response. "Bengal is the safest state for women. Some incidents happened in Bengal, and police took action," he stated, underscoring the importance of accountability and swift law enforcement measures.
He further pointed out that during the same time frame, similar incidents of violence and crime against women have been reported in several other states across the country. By highlighting this context, Ghosh aimed to draw attention to what he perceives as a broader issue rather than singling out West Bengal. "In the same time frame, these kinds of bad incidents took place in many other states as well," he noted, suggesting that the challenge of ensuring women's safety is not unique to Bengal.
