BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a recent statement, West Bengal's Leader of Opposition and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari revealed that he will visit violence-hit Sandeshkali on 20th February and meet families of victims as the court granted him permission on February 19, Monday.

Moreover, Adhikari stated that permission was granted on 12th February as well but he couldn't visit as section 144 was imposed in the area. Adhikari will also meet the families of arrested BJP workers. He further alleged that these are doings of West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee as she will 'lose' in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He also stressed that authorities do not want to arrest the TMC leader and prime accused in the Sandeshkali incident Shahjahan Sheikh as they need goons during elections. Adhikari alleged that Sheikh is also receiving protection. Moreover, he remarked that Mamata Banerjee has not done any developmental work.

Earlier today, NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma visited Sandeshkali and expressed grief on witnessing the miseries of victims. Prime accused Shibu Hazara and Uttam Sardar have been arrested by the authorities while Shahjahan Sheikh remains absconding. They are accused of committing systematic sexual exploitations and land-grabbing.
