Delhi: West Bengal BJP President and Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar has called for immediate action to address the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh. Speaking to the press, Majumdar said, “For the development of Bangladesh, the situation in the country should improve. The atrocities which are being committed against the Hindus in Bangladesh should be stopped.”

He further accused certain elements of attempting to incite unrest in the neighboring country, stressing, “Some people are trying to incite violence in Bangladesh. Bangladesh needs the support of India to come out of the economic strain.”

Majumdar’s comments come amidst ongoing concerns over the treatment of minorities in Bangladesh and its economic challenges. He emphasized the importance of India’s role in fostering stability and progress in the region.

Switching focus to domestic politics, Majumdar took aim at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over her reported willingness to lead the INDIA alliance. He dismissed her aspirations, saying, “It does not matter whether Mamata Banerjee leads the alliance or not. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has already ruined the state.”

In a sharp critique, he added, “If they (INDIA alliance leaders) want to ruin the country, then she should lead the alliance.”

Majumdar’s remarks underscore the BJP’s opposition to Mamata Banerjee’s political ambitions at the national level and highlight ongoing tensions between the ruling parties in Bengal and at the Centre. The INDIA alliance, a coalition of opposition parties, has yet to finalize its leadership strategy, but Banerjee’s potential role remains a contentious issue.
