Delhi: BJP leader Shazia Ilmi has expressed strong support for the Calcutta High Court's decision to order a CBI investigation into the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder incident. Describing the crime as "grotesque," Ilmi questioned the circumstances surrounding the case, asking, "Who is getting protection here and why? How come a young girl gets mutilated, humiliated, raped, and murdered?"

Ilmi raised concerns about the presence and actions of Sanjoy Roy, questioning how he had "unfettered access to all the departments" and pointing out the non-functional CCTV cameras during the incident. She emphasized the need for accountability, suggesting that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the health minister should have resigned.

Ilmi also questioned the possible protection of individuals involved, stating, "At whose behest was this man being encouraged?... Who are they trying to protect?" She expressed relief that the CBI will investigate the case, ensuring a thorough and impartial inquiry.
