BY A STAFF REPORTER: State government appointed Rupesh Kumar joint commissioner of police traffic as new crime chief of city. Rupesh will continue to hold office of joint commissioner of police traffic till further orders, according to sources at the state home department. The post has been lying vacant since current incumbent Syed Waqar Raza was transferred during election as deputy inspector general of police Murshidabad range.

Murlidhar Sharma, additional commissioner of police of police who was looking after crime in Kolkata police has been transferred to head training division of West Bengal police. Rupesh is known as a no nonsense straight forward officer with reputation of acting hard on law and order and anti crime work.
