BY A STAFF REPORTER: Ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections, Rashtriya Lok Dal Party's National Vice President Shahid Siddiqui on Monday announced that he resigned from the party on March 31, Sunday

Taking it to his X handle, Shahid Siddiqui declared that he has tendered his resignation to RLD President Jayant Singh. He further emphasized that he cannot silently watch the country's democratic structure come to an end. Siddiqui expressed gratitude to Jayant Singh and his RLD colleagues.

In another X post, the former Rajya Sabha MP stated "Now with the RLD  becoming a part of the NDA puts me in a bind and in a piquant situation. I have struggled long and hard in my mind and heart but find myself unable to be associated with an alliance headed by the BJP.

I am aware of your political compulsions and am not in a position to advise you otherwise. But speaking for myself I am constrained to withdraw myself from this ongoing campaign, as indeed from the RLD"

Rashtriya Lok Dal is a regional party founded in 1996 by Jayant Singh's father Choudhary Ajit Singh, son of recent Bharat Ratna Awardee and former PM Choudhary Charan Singh. Moreover, the party is present in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
