BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a recent statement, the Director of the Center for SC/ST Support and Research Dr Partha Biswas on Friday demanded the imposition of the Prevention of Atrocities Act and deployment of Central Forces in unrest-hit Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal.
Partha Biswas stated that even after multiple attempts, they couldn't enter Sandeshkhali due to Section 144. However, they managed to meet 11 victims, comprising five women and six men, of Sandeshkhali. Biswas further revealed that they have raised two demands including Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, and the deployment of Central Forces in Sandeshkhali.

Earlier today, a delegation of Sandeshkhali victims met President Droupadi Murmu in Delhi and shared a memorandum pertaining to the Sandeshkhali issue. Droupadi Murmu sympathized with them and was disheartened by the incident.
