Nityanand Rai Speaks On SPUNER in the Lok Sabha Assembly
Nityanand Rai revealed that Delhi's Special Unit for the People of North-east Region (SPUNER)'s various measures to enhance the safety of people hailing from the North-east region, Ladakh, Gorkhas and Darjeeling, residing in the National Capital.
BY A STAFF REPORTER: The Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai revealed that Delhi's Special Unit for the People of North-east Region (SPUNER)'s various measures to enhance the safety of people hailing from the North-east region, Ladakh, Gorkhas and Darjeeling, residing in the National Capital.
While answering a question from Congress leader Pradyut Bordoloi, Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs Nityanand Rai stated that safety measures including a dedicated helpline (1093) (toll-free), Mobile vehicles with dedicated teams, regular meetings with stakeholders, sensitization and training of Delhi Police personnel. Moreover, he also informed that data of people belonging to these regions is not being collected.
The SPUNER was established by Delhi police on 14th February 2014 to ensure and enhance the safety of Delhi residents who hail from the North-east region, Ladakh, Darjeeling, and Gorkhas.
