BY A STAFF REPORTER: A day after the Coochbehar violence, TMC leader Shashi Panja on Wednesday accused the BJP of starting the pre-poll violence in the area and remarked that Union Minister Nisith Pramanik is a criminal.

While countering Nisith Pramanik's statement, Shashi Panja alleged that the BJP has begun the pre-election violence in West Bengal. She further accused the BJP of attacking TMC leaders in Medinipur. Moreover, she asserted that most BJP candidates for the upcoming elections have criminal charges against them. Subsequently, Panja termed Nisith Pramanik a 'criminal' and maintained that crimes are imminent if a criminal happens to be a candidate.

However, Union Minister Nisith Pramanik accused TMC members of launching a pre-planned attack against the BJP Convoy which led to the violence.

Several BJP supporters clashed with the Trinamool Congress supporters in Dinhata, Coochbehar on Tuesday evening. The incident injured numerous people including police personnel. Furthermore, the clash broke out hours after MoS Nisith Pramanik addressed a public rally in the area and state minister Udayan Guha was set to head a rally nearby the area.
