BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a significant development, National Commission of Women Chairperson Rekha Sharma met with DGP West Bengal in Kolkata on 20th February, Tuesday. She remarked that the DGP's hands are tied and he is pressurized.

Sharma revealed that the DGP agreed that the police lacked. Moreover, he considered Sharma's suggestion of changing the batch of police officials in Sandeshkali. However, after receiving a phone call, the DGP started acting differently. Sharma alleged that DGP was not happy with TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh's name being mentioned. As per Rekha Sharma, the DGP remarked that Shahjahan Sheikh is the Enforcement Directorate's responsibility and not his. Moreover, the DGP allegedly argued that there was no evidence against the allegations imposed on Shahjahan Sheikh.

Sharma further emphasized that the DGP is under pressure. She also stated that DGP is serious but his hands are tied.

NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma on Monday visited violence-hit Sandeshkali to interact with the victims and villagers about the situation. She has vehemently demanded the arrest of Shahjahan Sheikh who is currently absconding. However, the other prime accused namely Shibu Hazara and Uttam Sardar have been arrested.
