BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a significant move, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights chief Priyank Kanoongo submitted a report on the Sandeshkhali issue to President Droupadi Murmu in Delhi on March 19, Tuesday.

Moreover, the Report highlights the deliberate violations of the legal procedures by the West Bengal Government and its Officials who are themselves entrusted with the responsibility of protecting the rights of children and work in their best interest.

A village located in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas, Sandeshkhali is witnessing significant clashes and violence following allegations of systematic sexual exploitations and land-grabbing committed by TMC leaders, Shahjahan Sheikh, Shibu Hazara and Uttam Sardar. Shahjahan Sheikh remained absconding since 5th January after an ED team was attacked by a large mob while conducting raids at Shahjahan's residence.

The CBI took over Sandeshkhali accused Shahjahan Sheikh's custody from the West Bengal CID after the second order of the Calcutta High Court on Wednesday. However, the WB CID initially refused to hand over Sheikh's custody as the state government challenged HC's verdict.

The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday transferred the Sandeshkhali case including the attack on ED sleuths and allegations on Shahjahan Sheikh to the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Prime accused in the Sandeshkhali matter, Shahjahan Sheikh was arrested on 29th February, Thursday. He was suspended for six years by the Trinamool Congress.
