Lok Sabha 2024: BJP To Contest From 20 Seats In West Bengal

Ahead of Lok Sabha Polls, the BJP announced its first list of candidates comprising 195 candidates on 2nd March, Saturday. BJP has fielded 20 candidates in West Bengal.

BY A STAFF REPORTER: Ahead of Lok Sabha Polls, the BJP announced its first list of candidates comprising 195 candidates on 2nd March, Saturday. BJP has fielded 20 candidates in West Bengal.

Furthermore, prominent Bengal BJP leaders namely West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar will contest from Balurghat and MLA Locket Chatterjee will contest from Hooghly. Apart from this, Bengal Assembly LoP Suvendu Adhikari's brother Soumendu Adhikari will contest from Kanthi. 

As usual, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will contest from the Varanasi constituency.

Additionally, the first list includes 28 women and 47 young leaders as candidates for the Lok Sabha Polls. Moreover, 34 Union Ministers and Lok Sabha Speaker figure are also mentioned in the list. 

The upcoming Lok Sabha elections are expected to be held in April or May to elect the members of the 18th Lok Sabha assembly. Moreover, the ECI will likely release the schedule for the general election in March.
