Kolkata, December 10, 2024: In a fresh assertion on Mamata Banerjee’s political stance, Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kunal Ghosh emphasized that the West Bengal Chief Minister is not seeking any position in Delhi. Instead, he highlighted her focus on building a viable opposition alternative to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming elections.
“Mamata ji is not interested in any position in Delhi. Her priority is creating a proper alternative to the BJP. Where Congress had the main responsibility to stop the BJP, they failed,” Ghosh stated, underscoring Banerjee’s commitment to leading the charge against the BJP rather than pursuing personal political gain.
Ghosh also took aim at the Congress party, accusing them of not fulfilling their role in preventing the BJP's rise. He suggested that the failure of the Congress leadership to provide a strong opposition has left a leadership vacuum, one that, according to Ghosh, could be filled by Mamata Banerjee.
"That is why senior leaders are saying that the INDIA bloc needs effective leadership like Mamata Banerjee to counter the BJP," Ghosh added. His remarks signal growing support within the opposition for Mamata's leadership as the political landscape in India heats up ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Mamata Banerjee, known for her strong anti-BJP stance, has previously expressed her desire to unite regional forces to challenge the BJP's dominance. The TMC has consistently advocated for a stronger, more coordinated opposition to ensure the defeat of the BJP in the upcoming polls.
