KMC denies major water logging, Kolkatans differ

By A Staff Reporter: Kalighat received the most rainfall while it did not rain at all in Belgachhia, according to report released by Kolkata Municipal Corporation. Many city streets were under water with Kolkata police confirming that vehicles were stuck bumper to bumper. But member mayor in council sewerage and drainage, Tarak Singh claimed that all lock gates were in operation and water has been drained out.

“There might be some water logging in some arterial roads but water level has receded from most of the main roads,” he said. Locals however complained that they were stuck for several hours on the road as there were not many private vehicles. Taxis and autos charged high rates from passengers taking advantage of the water logged roads.
