Janakpur Devotees hand over 'Bhaar' Upon Arrival in Ayodhya

Ahead of the Ram Temple consecration ceremony, the devotees who arrived from Janakpur, Nepal, handed over 'Bhaar' to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra's General Secretary Champat Rai on Saturday, 6th January in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.

BY A STAFF REPORTER: Ahead of the Ram Temple consecration ceremony, the devotees who arrived from Janakpur, Nepal, handed over 'Bhaar' to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra's General Secretary Champat Rai on Saturday, 6th January in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.

The Bhar Yatra consisting of nearly 500 Nepal residents started from Nepal's Janakpur Dham, which is said to be Lord Ram's wife, Sita's native place, and reached Ayodhya Uttar Pradesh today early morning, 6th January.

The SRJBTK General Secretary Champat Rai stated that India-Nepal relations trace their roots back to Treta Yuga (The age of triads). He also mentioned that their relationship manifests the unity of both countries.

He explained that the 'bhaar' is a collection of gifts that is presented by the bride's family to the groom. Moreover, 'Bhaar' consists of A bamboo stick resting on the shoulder, and on both ends of that stick, there is a bundle of gifts tied up.

Concerning the India-Nepal relations, the Minister of External Affairs Subramaniam Jaishankar went on a two-day visit to Nepal for the 7th India-Nepal Joint Commission meeting which mainly focused on the betterment of India Nepal's bilateral ties
