Insufficient Water Supply From Haryana: Atishi On Delhi's Water Crisis

While inspecting the Wazirabad Water Treatment Plant, Atishi stated that Delhi is dependent on the Yamuna River, which is released from Haryana, for its entire water supply.

BY A STAFF REPORTER: Delhi Minister and AAP leader Atishi on Thursday claimed that Delhi is not receiving sufficient water supply from Haryana which has caused a water crisis in the capital.

While inspecting the Wazirabad Water Treatment Plant, Atishi stated that Delhi is dependent on the Yamuna River, which is released from Haryana, for its entire water supply. She further claimed that the Wazirabad pond water level should be 674 feet but it is 3.5 feet less than that. Moreover, Yamuna's water level is 370.3 feet today but it was 374.5 feet on this day, last year.

Atishi asserted that the water supply to Wazirabad, Chandrawal, and Okhla water treatment plants is disrupted due to reduced water supply from Haryana. Atishi also claimed that they have addressed a letter to the Haryana government as well as the Central government claiming that Delhi should get its share of water and because Haryana causing water scarcity in various areas of Delhi. 

Due to ongoing water challenges, the Delhi government on Tuesday announced that several areas of North and South Delhi will receive water supply only once every day.
