By Rupanjal Chauhan: India and Pakistan exchanged the lists of nuclear installations through diplomatic channels jointly at New Delhi and Islamabad.

According to the External Affairs Ministry, the exchange took place through diplomatic channels simultaneously in New Delhi and Islamabad.

The exchange of lists of nuclear installations between India and Pakistan has been executed under the 1988 agreement. Observing its 33rd consecutive edition, this regular exchange event was initially held on 1st January 1992. The purpose of this exchange of lists was that both nations refrained from attacking each other’s nuclear installations.

Signed on 31st December 1988, this Agreement states that India and Pakistan must inform each other about the nuclear installations and facilities to be covered under the agreement on the first of January every year.
