First Woman Minister of Rajasthan Kamla Beniwal Passes Away At 97

She breathed her last in Jaipur's Fortis Hospital in the afternoon. As per sources, Beniwal felt uneasy after having lunch at her residence. Subsequently, she was rushed to the Fortis Hospital where she passed away during treatment.

BY A STAFF REPORTER: Veteran politician and Rajasthan's former Deputy Chief Minister Kamla Beniwal passed away in Jaipur, Rajasthan on May 15, Wednesday.

She breathed her last in Jaipur's Fortis Hospital in the afternoon. As per sources, Beniwal felt uneasy after having lunch at her residence. Subsequently, she was rushed to the Fortis Hospital where she passed away during treatment. 

Born in 1927, Kamla Beniwal took part in the 'Quit India Movement' at the age of 11. Beniwal became the first woman Minister in Rajasthan's cabinet at the age of 27. She was awarded Tamrapatra by the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Moreover, she served as the governor of Gujarat during PM Narendra Modi's Chief Ministerialship.
