Fact-Finding Committee Arrested In Bhojerhat, West Bengal

The members of the Fact-Finding Committee who were visiting Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas, were arrested in Bhojehat, South 24 Parganas on 25th February, Sunday.

BY A STAFF REPORTER: The members of the Fact-Finding Committee who were visiting Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas, were arrested in Bhojehat, South 24 Parganas on 25th February, Sunday.

As per Saikat Ghosh, Deputy Commissioner of Bhangar division, Kolkata, the members of the Fact-Finding Committee were trying to vandalize the police barricades unlawfully. He further claimed that members were arrested under preventive sections. He also stated that the members were frequently requested not to cross the border.

Earlier, the Fact-Finding Committee was stopped from entering unrest-hit Sandeshkhali at Bhojerhat. Subsequently, the members of the Fact-Finding Committee stated that they would take the matter to the CM, governor, and PM. 

A village located in North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, Sandeshkhali is witnessing significant clashes and violence following allegations of systematic sexual exploitations and land-grabbing committed by TMC leaders, Shahjahan Sheikh, Shibu Hazara and Uttam Sardar. While others have been arrested, Shahjahan Sheikh remains absconding.
