BY A STAFF REPORTER: Shortly after the FIR, Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai on Friday defended his move of conducting a rally post 10:00 PM, stating that only loudspeakers are banned after 10:00 PM.

K Annamalai stated that no rule prohibits candidates from meeting voters after 10:00 PM. However, he claimed that he didn't use loudspeakers which are prohibited as per the Model Code of Conduct.

BJP's Lok Sabha candidate from Coimbatore K Annamalai and Coimbatore BJP District Secretary Ramesh on Friday have been booked for breaching the MCC and campaigning beyond permitted hours. K Annamalai was campaigning in Avarampalayam till 10:45 PM.
