Kolkata: The Department of Posts, West Bengal Circle, successfully inaugurated the newly renovated MA Howrah Building, the Mail Agent Unit, and a Parcel Counter on December 6, 2024 at 4:00 PM. The event was held at the Mail Agent Unit, Old Complex, Ground Floor, DRM Building, Howrah Station, under the leadership of Chief Postmaster General Sri Niraj Kumar and other dignitaries.

The MA Howrah Building’s transformation has provided modern infrastructure, reflecting the Department’s dedication to improving operational efficiency. This inauguration marked a milestone, introducing the first-ever Parcel Counter at this location to offer vital services to businesses and daily commuters near the busy Howrah Station.
The West Bengal Circle achieved a remarkable milestone earlier this year by surpassing its April 2023–October 2023 parcel performance of 235,315,936 grams. This success was attributed to innovative measures like Mobile Parcel Vans and Extended Parcel Counters operating at 51 locations during extended hours from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

Furthermore, 24/7 parcel booking facilities were also launched at six strategic locations: Kharagpur RMS, Burdwan BPC, Durgapur RMS, Asansol BPC, AMPC Kolkata, and ECPH Nabadiganta, catering to both individual and commercial users.
The newly launched Parcel Counter at Howrah Station, strategically located near railway and metro services, aims to streamline parcel services and reduce logistical delays. This initiative is expected to significantly benefit the region’s businesses and commuters.
The event underscored the Department’s ongoing commitment to modernizing its infrastructure and enhancing service efficiency to meet its growing responsibilities in effectively.
