Delhi Court Remands Arvind Kejriwal to ED Custody Till April 1

Before the order, Kejriwal’s lawyer Ramesh Agarwal Ramesh Agarwal stated that Rouse Avenue Court is set to grant custody as Kejriwal has conceded to cooperate with the Investigation and doesn't object to being in custody.

BY A STAFF REPORTER: Shortly after the conclusion of the hearing, Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday extended Arvind Kejriwal's Enforcement Directorate custody till April 1.

As Arvind Kejriwal's previous remand expired today, the Enforcement Directorate further sought seven-day custody of Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi Liquorgate Case. The ED also alleged that Arvind Kejriwal was not cooperating with the investigation and gave evasive replies. However, the court granted four-day custody to Arvind Kejriwal. 

Before the order, Kejriwal’s lawyer Ramesh Agarwal Ramesh Agarwal stated that Rouse Avenue Court is set to grant custody as Kejriwal has conceded to cooperate with the Investigation and doesn't object to being in custody. However, he also stated that they oppose the grounds on which remand is being sought. "The court will grant remand custody now that he has conceded before the court," Agarwal stated.

The argument in the court got heated as Arvind Kejriwal spoke for himself and presented evidence showing that accused Sarath Reddy donated electoral bonds worth Rs. 55 crores to the BJP. 

Furthermore, Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court Remanded Delhi CM and AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal to ED Custody till March 28 in the Delhi Liquorgate case on March 22, Friday. The decision came as ED demanded 10-day custody of Kejriwal and submitted 28 pages of evidence alleging his involvement in the Delhi Liquor Policy Scam. 

The Enforcement Directorate arrested Delhi CM and AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal from his residence in connection with the Delhi Liquorgate case. He was arrested following search operations and Interrogations conducted by the ED at his residence on Thursday evening.
