Defence Budget Doubled In 10 Years: FM Nirmala Presents White-Paper

While presenting the White-paper in the Lok Sabha, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman claimed that the defence budget has doubled during the last 10 years.

BY A STAFF REPORTER: While presenting the White-paper in the Lok Sabha, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman claimed that the defence budget has doubled during the last 10 years. 

She underscored that the defence budget was around Rs. 2.53 lakh crores in 2013-14. It has risen to Rs. 6.22 lakh crores in 2024-25. Moreover, capital expenditure which includes border roads, and defence forces, equipment investments, defence capital budget rose from Rs. 86,741 crores in 2013-14 to 1.72 lakh crores in 2024-25.

Sitharaman also informed that defence procurement is happening more through defence corridors in Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. 

To contribute to the Make in India initiative, INS Vikrant, LCA Tejas, Akash, BrahMos missiles, the main battle tank Arjun, and artillery gun system Dhanush are being indigenously built. Moreover, women are flying rafales and patrolling the border too. 

FM Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting the White Paper which shows how the Indian economy has transformed during the last 10 years of BJP's tenure since 2014.
