By A Staff Reporter: Kolkata remain waterlogged, hours after cyclone Rumel grazed past the city. Rains continue to pour uninterrupted throughout Monday. ANM News toured the city and found uprooted branches of trees on many roads in various areas across the city. Electric wires, Internet and cable lines snapped at various places. Waterlogging was reported from Bowbazar, Thanthania Kalibari, Camac Street, AJC Bose Road, Jorabagan, several areas in central and south Kolkata. There was ankle to knee deep water at most of these places.

ANM News spoke to Member Mayor in Council sewerage and drainage Tarak Singh who mentioned that all efforts are being made to ensure that whatever waterlogging is there can be cleared as soon as possible. Singh said despite heavy rainfall, KMC has been able to contain waterlogging and situation is not as bad as earlier years. Work had halted at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Kolkata owing to cycle but chairman Port Trust Rathendra Raman informed that there has not been not much damage and operations started from 2 PM.
