BY A STAFF REPORTER: Ahead of the Lok Sabha Polls, the Indian National Congress released its Manifesto which promised action in unrest-hit Manipur, scrapping the Agnipath Scheme and several benefits on April 5, Friday.

The Congress named its manifesto 'Nyay Patra' and 'Nyay Dastavez' (documents of justice). The manifesto is based on work, wealth, and welfare.

The Congress stated that the situation in Manipur has worsened during BJP/NDA government. They further promised action in Manipur and sort conflicts between communities.

The manifesto promised monetary benefits such as Rs. One Lakh to at least one woman in a family and Rs. 400 every day to minimum wage workers including MGNREGA.

It also guaranteed the implementation of the MSP for farmers growing cash crops. The manifesto promised to scrap the now-passed Agnipath Scheme and restore the regular recruitment process in the defence services.

The Congress has also guaranteed to replace the current GST laws enacted by the BJP/NDA government with GST 2.0. Moreover, GST 2.0 is said to be based on the universally accepted principle that GST shall be a single, moderate rate (with a few exceptions) that will not burden the poor.

The manifesto further guaranteed to combine the efficiency of the electronic voting machine (EVM) and the transparency of the ballot paper.

Through its manifesto, the Congress also promised not to interfere with personal choices of food and dress, to love and marry, and to travel and reside in any part of India. It also guaranteed to amend the 10th Schedule of the Indian Constitution regarding defection laws.

The manifesto was released in the presence of Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Party President Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, P Chidambaram, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal, and other Congress leaders in the AICC headquarters, in New Delhi.
