BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a blow to the Congress, Chhindwara Mayor Vikram Ahake resigned from the Congress and joined the BJP on April 1, Monday.

Moreover, Vikram Ahake is the first tribal mayor and leader from Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh. He is also closely associated with veteran Congress leader and Chhindwara MP Kamal Nath.

Furthermore, the BJP leaders alleged that Vikram Ahake left Congress as he was upset by derogatory remarks passed by Kamal Nath and his son.

Another Congress MLA from Chhindwara's Amarwada Kamlesh Shah, a close aide of Kamal Nath, also joined the BJP last week.
