Chief Postmaster Gen To Unveil Logo On Kolkata GPO's 250th Anniversary

BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a significant move, the Chief Postmaster General will unveil a new logo to commemorate Kolkata General Post Office's 250th anniversary on 27th February in Kolkata, West Bengal. 

Furthermore, the ceremony will be held at Alapan Auditorium, Chief Postmaster General's office, West Bengal Circle at 12:00 noon. 

Moreover, the ceremony will be followed by a week-long celebration comprising various events across various places from 14th March to 19th March. 

The Kolkata GPO was established on 31st March 1774 by Lord Warren Hastings, the then Governor General of Bengal at Fort William. However, the old GPO was relocated numerous times between 1774 and 1868 till the construction of the present GPO building, which was opened to the public on 2nd October 1868. 

Additionally, Kolkata GPO is one of the oldest buildings of Postal departments as well as the capital city, Kolkata.
