Drivers with cabs hold city to ransom

By A Staff Reporter: How long will agitators take Kolkata to ransom? When will the city police act for the common man? In what is considered a complete breakdown of the law and order and traffic machinery, a handful of private app cab drivers blocked the busy Central Avenue which connects north and south Kolkata. Traffic around central Kolkata and arterial areas came to a standstill, ambulances with critical patients were stuck on the road as police played helpless spectators. The drivers of the private app cab cars took over the streets, stopping all vehicles as their cars blocked the road. How so many cars managed to get together and proceed and managed to block the busy road is a clear indicator of the complete failure of the intelligence wing of Kolkata police.

ANM News spoke to a few agitators who pointed out that they have grievance against the international app cab management. But at the end of the day it is the people who suffered while the cops looked the other way.
