CBI Team Conducts Search At Sandeshkhali, Detains One

BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a significant move, sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation detained one person while conducting search operations in Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal on 8th March, Friday. 

Moreover, the team also carried out search operations at Shahjahan Sheikh's residence in Sandeshkhali. Subsequently, they detained one person in connection with the Sandeshkhali case.

Earlier today, a CBI team brought Shahjahan Sheikh to the ESI hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal. The CBI took over Sandeshkhali accused Shahjahan Sheikh's custody from the West Bengal CID after the second order of the Calcutta High Court on Wednesday.

The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday transferred the Sandeshkhali case including the attack on ED sleuths and allegations on Shahjahan Sheikh to the Central Bureau of Investigation. 

The Prime accused in the Sandeshkhali matter, Shahjahan Sheikh was arrested on 29th February, Thursday. He was suspended for six years by the Trinamool Congress. 

A village located in North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, Sandeshkhali is witnessing significant clashes and violence following allegations of systematic sexual exploitations and land-grabbing committed by TMC leaders, Shahjahan Sheikh, Shibu Hazara and Uttam Sardar. Shahjahan Sheikh remained absconding since 5th January after an ED team was attacked by a large mob while conducting raids at Shahjahan's residence.
